Divorcing With Children
A child born while love is strong, but love grows cold, bitter
Fights break out as love grows tense; walls built brick by brick
Distance goes from near to far, until no fleeting hope remains
Another child born while love is weak, their last attempt to save
They must fix what is surely broke, a child is not a tool though
Things go from bad to worse as stress grows with two young babies
More fights break out day after day, until they call it quits, giving up
With towels thrown in, agreements drawn up, lawyers take their cut
He takes the kids and she feels defeated, depressed, blaming the children
The years go by sadly day after day; she tries everything to get her kids
Just to get back at the man she divorced, her life destroyed, his should be too
The kids are caught between, children are used to strike at each other
Children, stuck, trapped, not given a choice
They did not ask to be put in this situation
A battle where they are the clashing weapons
Bitterly trying not to pick a side, stay neutral
Children, hating the choices adults can make
Growing more frustrated, angry year after year
Children, whose lives will never be the same
Adults don’t understand why their children act out
Don’t understand their anger and bitterness
Not trying to get it, the answer might hurt
Might just come right out and slap their face
Divorcing created this monster inside the home
Adults careless decisions, lacking thoughtfulness
Children, stuck, trapped, changed forever
