Tic
Tic
Time craaawwwlllsss slowly by creeping towards the finish line
Jump
Jump
Jump
The hands jump working around the clock, each jump is counted
Seconds seem like minutes, minutes like hours, and hours like days
Will this long day never end or will infinity take over my life?
My brain is shutting down, eyes closing slowly, must stay awake
Darkness tries to take over, lights blink with ebbing awareness
Sleep creeps over my fading mind; my body shutting itself down
Forcing my eyes to remain open seems like a long lost cause
Darkness wins as my head goes down, voices are now droning
My head is buried in my soft arms, cradled like a newborn baby
So comfortable I could just stay sleeping here forever and ever
SLAM!
A meter stick comes crashing down on the desk beside my head
I jump up; sitting straight in my seat, there’s laughter all around
The teacher glares at me, then moves on with his boring lesson
And once again time is left slowly craaawwwllling by
